Q: What payment methods do you accept?
A: We use an accounting software called Wave. Wave is a BBB (Better Business Bureau) Accredited Business, as well as TRUSTe certified privacy and DigiCert certified Secure Trusted. We switched to Wave for many reasons, but primarily to keep prices lower.
We will accept PayPal, if necessary, but with an added fee.
Q: Is there any payment plan options?
A: For any of the full manuscript critiques, the payments can be broken in two. There’s a deposit to ensure a place on our schedule and then the remainder is paid when the job is complete.
Q: When can you start on my project?
A: It depends on our schedule. On the booking page, we list when our earliest openings happen to be. We’ll always make sure to tell you within forty-eight hours of any inquiry when we can fit your project in (this twenty-four-hour policy does not apply when we are on vacation or on weekends).
Q: How long will it take?
A: It depends on the length of the project. Our turnaround time is two to three weeks after the start date of the project. For example, depending on the level of critique needed, a 60,000-word manuscript will most likely only have a two-week turnaround. A 100,000-word manuscript will be on the higher turnaround time of three to four weeks.
We will tell you once you book your services exactly when to expect the critique back.
Q: If I'm willing to pay, are you for sure going to take on my project?
A: No. We do not accept every project that comes our way, and this is not a reflection on you or your work at all. It’s simply a reflection on the editors time and preferences.
Q: How can I send my materials for a critique?
A: Once we have discussed and agreed upon a critique together then all critique materials can be emailed as attachments. We do not accept critique material by mail. We only accept email submissions and online payments.
Q: It's been a few weeks/months since you completed my critique & I'm just now getting around to revising. I was wondering if I could run an idea by you/ask you a question still?
A: Of course! If we’ve completed our contract, but we’re still open to you contacting us if you have questions about the critique or if you would like to run an idea by us. We can’t guarantee a 24-hour response to these inquiries after our contract is fulfilled, but we will reply! It usually takes about 2 to 3 days if we’re super busy.
Q: You use Word Track Changes. What if I don't like using Word?
A: If you use Pages, on Mac, we can also use their track changes system.
Q: Can you give me a referral to your agents or publishers?
A: We can’t. We can’t be paid for a referral, or else our referrals will mean nothing. If we think your manuscript is something our agents/publishers might be interested in, that’s a different story — but please don’t assume this will happen.
